Vinyasa flow summer Master classes with Rachel Okimo and a live DJ!

Monday 4 to Thursday 7 July 2011, 19:30-21:30

Happen to be in Greece this summer?
In conjunction with Armonia Yoga Studio, www.yogarmonia.com,
Funk the Buddha, global yoga parties, are holding a special event with funk the Buddha founder Rachel Okimo.
Our own 4th July celebration will be celebrated with a live Dj set and 2 hr dynamic vinyasa practice, designed to make you move, sweat and have fun. The theme “independence day from the mat”, and we have the music to make you move too!
Throughout the week, Rachel will be paying homage to Funk the Buddha’s most recent musical collaborations as well as exploring a new creative theme from the mat each day.
Funk the Buddha is a new hip fusion of yoga and live music monthly sessions, born from the collaboration of yoga teacher and dancer, Rachel Okimo and music consultant and distributor Naja Detrekoy. Our events are held in cool and unusual venues around urban cities with the mission to give yoga to the masses as we celebrate our urban landscape and its many creative and cultural gems. Funk the Buddha fuses modern music, yoga and culture together to create a new fresh experience from the yoga mat.

Rachel Okimo (www.urbanshala.tumblr.com) has been working with creative movement and yoga for more than 10 years. After training with the Alvin Ailey Dance School and completing a BA in choreography, Rachel lived and worked for many years, as a professional dancer in New York.
Rachel travelled to India in 2005, where she completed her first teachers training. Since then, she has immersed herself in the dynamic yoga practice and has completed several 200hr certifications in addition to developing her own unique Vinyasa style.
Rachel believes that the creative play and spontaneity within your yoga practice is the key to unleashing inspiration and expression on and off the mat. Her class incorporates music, dynamic sequencing and breath to encourage a creative play between you and the yoga experience.
Rachel teaches in both London and Berlin and is currently launching a global yoga project, infusing art, music, yoga and cultural exchange together, to bring yoga out of the studio and into the playground of our cities.

*The classes will be taught in English.
